At age 46 Ramlal [...] T&T's Rodney Ramlal will take on Brazil's Aleksandro Askiva for the International Sport Kick-Boxing Association- sanctioned Pan American Championship title. At age 46 Ramlal said he is fit and ready for any challenge and wants to use the fight as an encouragement for the nation's youth to show that if he could do it, anybody else could. Ramlal earned the right to face his opponent for the Pan Am title by virtue of a number of impressive performances at the United States Championship earlier this year in July. At that championhsip, he proved himself worthy among a number of international fighters from Suriname, Russia and the home team, among many others by qualifying out of the tournament. Ramlal is the undisputed champion of T&T in the welterweight division and is also the first lightweight champion the country has had. To date Ramlal has an impressive record of 15 fights, comprising nine wins and five losses. He has only drawn one fight in his career and was rated ninth in the International Kick-Boxing Federation (IKBF) back in 1998.
