Home / Robert L. Tambur Robert pitched on the first Little League team in West Pittston where he was also the leading home run hitter. He played junior varsity at West Pittston High School in 9th grade. He was second string halfback on the 10th grade undefeated championship team. In his junior and senior years he was selected for the West Side All Scholastic Team. He scored 28 touchdowns in a 3-year period. He also ran the 100 yard dash in track in high school and won districts in shot put and placed sixth in the state tournament. He was selected to play 1956 All Star UNICO Game coached by Doc Yonkondy. He also played baseball locally on the Suburban League and Scranton Association. While attending Bloomsburg College he played halfback and defensive back and lettered as a freshmen. At Ellendale State Teacher' College (a branch of the University of North Dakota), he played tailback and linebacker. He captained the team as a junior and senior and was selected to the All-Conference teams. He played in the All-Star game coached by Forest Evashevski, the 1960 Iowa University football coach. This was the year that Iowa won the Big Ten Championship representing the Big 10 in the Rose Bowl. He also played baseball three years at North Dakota as catcher and infielder. He played on Ellendale's amateur team in 1959 and 1960 and also played the final game of the state's Amateur baseball tournament. In 1960 and 1961 he coached football at Cheyenne Eagle Butte High School in South Dakota. In 1964 while in the Army Reserves at Fort Knox, he played on the Brigade baseball team as a catcher and batted against Major League pitcher Phil Niekro. In 2008 he was inducted into the Wyoming Area "Ring of Pride" Hall of Fame. Bob resides in Shavertown. He is successful developer as chairman and CEO of Tammac Holding Corp.
