"It's going to be so much fun," said Regina Wright, executive director of Riverwood.
"It's going be a wonderful family-friendly event to help a good cause." Wright said the show plans to host nearly 50 different cars from all over Northwest Georgia - from new sportsters to classic cruisers - in the retirement community's parking lot at 511 W. 10th St. "Anything that will show, can show," she added. "We've had several pre-register so far, and we've got plenty of room for more. We've gotten calls from all over … Cedartown, Rockmart, even as far as Dalton." Registration, which is $20 per vehicle, starts at 9 a.m. and the show will run until 1 p.m. Onsite registration is welcome, said Wright. "We'll be serving up hot dogs and nachos, popcorn, snow-cones and cotton candy," added Wright. "Everything we've done has come out of our budget, but everything we make is going toward the walk," Wright said. Alzheimer's hits close to many of the residents of Riverwood, she noted. One year ago, the retirement home opened up a 30-bedroom memory-care addition to the existing 50 personal-care rooms. Today the unit is completely full and has a waiting list for memory-care patients. "When AIDS first hit the scene, there were plenty of activist groups to help get federal funding," said Wright.

Regina Wright has a heart for serving the people she works with.
Wright is the executive director of the Riverwood Retirement Life Community, an assisted living center that has been in Rome for 25 years. The business, located at 511 West 10th Street, boasts 50 rooms with 46 residents. The average age of each resident is 85. Wright has been managing the facility for two years. "As I get older my love for my parents and grand parents grows stronger," she said. "I want to make sure they are taken care of." She says that each person in the facility is treated like a family member. "I treat every lady like that's my mom and every gentlemen like that's my dad," she said. The community prepares its residence three healthy meals a day on site, and Wright said they offer a Christian-centered home. "We're the oldest facility in town and when you think of our name you think of a nice facility," she said.
