HP Indigo comes to Noida

Mr. Rajeev Kalra, director, Lynx Printers, shares his experience with Indian Printer and Publisher. We first met Rajeev Kalra just after drupa 2000.He like many others had brought back several Indigo print samples and was keen to buy the press for his tag printing business. He became the first Indigo buyer in the Delhi National Capital Region in August of 2005.The press gives him a tremendous edge to be able to print just a few tags for a garment or apparel exporter when just a sample shipment has to be made in a nearly impossible timeframe.Actually his customers, all brand owners hardly care how he does it, as long as their special brand colours match and he can do these in time for them to meet their commitments. What is remarkable about Lynx and Kalra is first of all the entire environment. The new building looks as new as when we saw it two years ago.Kalra is a fanatic about cleanliness and dust control. His seven Heidelberg presses run in an environment not much different from the Indigo although they are on floor below. Then Lynx has taken the printing of tags to a very high level of perfection. It is the perfectionist skill of the organization that makes it very challenging to use the Indigo for flat special colours.Nevertheless, Lynx has taken about six months (the Indigo was installed in end-August 2005) to master digital printing. Now the company is ready to move on from just using it for its own convenience to reaching out to the general market and doing some of the creative things that Kalra showed us.He is now ready to take on the nice market for high quality short run and variable digital printing.
