For our final meeting during World Awareness Month, Rotary Club of Kahului will welcome Susan Lussier of the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team and Rachel Heckscher of the State of Hawaii Department of Health. Next up will be Rachel Heckscher, health educator with the Hawaii Department of Health, Emergency Preparedness Branch. Ms. Heckscher will discuss how the Katrina hurricane disaster highlighted the importance of having family and individual emergency plans and kits at the ready. She will then discuss some of the threats to Maui, including pandemic flu or other disasters. To accompany her talk, Ms. Heckscher will distribute The Plan to be Ready booklet, prepared specifically for Maui families.
