State/Community College:Ossie Hanauer - Miami Dade College
Ms. Hanauer has been the Director for Service-Learning at three of Miami Dade College's campuses since 2000. Her service-learning program, the largest at the college, serves more than 1,000 students and 40 faculty members per semester. She has trained faculty, students, administrators, and community partners in this pedagogy. Ms. Hanauer frequently serves as a consultant, facilitating service-learning workshops training faculty and administrators around the nation how to utilize this effective tool. She has contributed to A Practical Guide to Integrating Civic Responsibility into the Curriculum, published by the American Association of Community Colleges. She has contributed extensively to the field of service-learning and engagement both on her campus and to the Compact as a whole. Ms. Hanauer also has more than 35 years of experience in the business world and is involved extensively in several community service projects. She graduated from the University of Miami, earning a Bachelor of Education degree with high honors.

Ossie Hanauer Ossie Hanauer is the Director for the service-learning program at the Kendall and Homestead Campuses of Miami Dade College. This program, the largest at the college, serves more than 1,000 students and 40 faculty members per semester. She has trained faculty, students, administrators, and community partners in this pedagogy. Ossie has served as a consultant in the area of service-learning and civic engagement, and has facilitated service-learning workshops, including the We the People Project Citizen program in Washington, D.C., Campus Compact National Center for Community Colleges Conference, American Association of Community Colleges Annual Convention, and the Ninth Annual Florida Campus Compact Service-Learning Institute. Additionally, she has worked with college and university administrators around the country helping them incorporate service learning into their institutions. Ossie has also contributed to the American Association of Community College's A Practical Guide for Integrating Civic Responsibility into the Curriculum, and is providing training around the country on their behalf. Ossie is a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming with more than 30 years experience in the business world and is involved extensively in several community service projects. She graduated from the University of Miami, where she holds a Bachelor of Education degree.
