Natasha Alfonso
Planning and Economic Development Manager Natasha Alfonso Ms. Alfonso is an urban planner specializing in the redevelopment of existing neighborhoods, community revitalization projects and new community design. She has more than 10 years of global urban regeneration experience emphasizing planning projects at a variety of scales: from regional, to district, to individual sites for both the public and private sectors. As Principal Planner for Miami Dade County's Urban Design Center, she was responsible for coordinating design workshops (charrettes), developing master plans, and writing the zoning regulations and design guidelines for the urban centers designated in their Comprehensive Development Master Plan. Ms. Alfonso has consulted on various projects for the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, assisting them with the St. Lucie and Martin County Regional Long Range Transportation Plans. She has also managed several projects internationally. As project manager for OBMI, she managed a multi-million dollar redevelopment project in Tripoli, Libya, which entailed a master plan for 900 residential units, a village center and a hotel resort along the Mediterranean Sea. She developed the overall master plan concept and oversaw every aspect of the design development. Ms. Alfonso was also responsible for developing a master plan for Jamaica's "Hip Strip" in Montego Bay as part of a National effort to revitalize and enhance all the tourist destinations of the Country. She developed an overall master plan to include various neighborhood, commercial and entertainment centers as well as an overall street beautification and open space plan that enhanced this tourist destination both physically and economically. In addition, she wrote the development design guidelines for the project. Other urban design projects Ms. Alfonso has managed internationally are in Germany, Egypt, Romania and Belgium. Ms. Alfonso spent one and a half years in Austria, where she managed the renovation of a historic building in the center of a town called Bad Ischl.

In 2012, RMA's Urban Design Director, Natasha Alfonso, received the Florida Redevelopment Association's (FRA) Roy F. Kenzie award for the planning and design of the Transit Oriented Corridor.
In 2014, a second FRA Roy F. Kenzie award was received for the zoning regulations of the Transit Oriented Corridor. In addition, Ms. Alfonso spoke on this subject at the national APA conference in 2015.
