Mauricio Acosta
BC Lower Mainland Health Authorities mauricio_acosta Mauricio Acosta is the Director of Energy & Environmental Sustainability for the BC Lower Mainland Health Authorities. In his role he is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to energy management and environmental sustainability activities throughout Fraser Health Authority, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, the Provincial Health Services Authority and Providence Health Care. He is a seasoned corporate financial planner with over 15 years of experience at an executive level in development, real estate, construction and facilities & property management institutions in private and public sectors in both North and South America. In his previous role as the Director of Facilities Financial Planning & Administration, Mauricio provided financial direction and business support for both operational and capital areas across the region. He was responsible for planning and administration of a $73 million annual operational budget. He lead a team responsible for operational planning, operational budget process and guidelines, financial reporting and analysis in liaison with the Finance department, business support to operations and maintenance of most sites across Vancouver Coastal Health. Mauricio obtained a Bachelors of Business Administration and Masters in Finance from the University of Los Andes in Bogotá Colombia. He then obtained a Master in Business Administration from UBC specializing in Information Technology Management. He has worked on a variety of energy conservation projects and lead VCH to be recognized as institutional Power Smart Leader and be ranked #1 in BC for healthcare. Mauricio was also the recipient of the BC Hydro 2009 Power Smart Excellence Award. In his spare time besides being dedicated to his family Mauricio enjoys practicing multiple sports. He takes part in triathlon competitions, mountain biking outings, soccer games and scuba diving when possible.
