About Mark Meder
Mark S. Meder is interim president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. He will serve in this capacity from July 1, 2024 until the term of incoming President Beth M. Hammack commences on August 21, 2024. Mr. Meder was appointed to the role of first vice president and chief operating officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland in 2022. In this role, Mr. Meder is the second-ranking official of the Cleveland Reserve Bank and is responsible for overseeing the operational and financial performance of the Bank, establishing the Bank’s strategic plan, maintaining a strong control environment and risk-management program, and ensuring the Bank has leadership strength, succession planning, and a diverse and inclusive workforce. In addition to his interim duties as president, he sits on the Federal Reserve System’s Conference of First Vice Presidents, the People Committee, and the Information Technology and Operations Committee, and he provides leadership to several Federal Reserve System workgroups. Mr. Meder also serves on the Livable Cuyahoga Advisory Council, an initiative of Cuyahoga County that is “dedicated to creating a livable community that serves as a lifelong home for residents of all ages.” Prior to being appointed to his current role, Mr. Meder was the Cleveland Reserve Bank’s executive vice president responsible for the Bank’s operations and technology functions, which comprise the Cash Department and Cash Product Office Support, the Law Enforcement Unit, the Real Estate Services Group (facilities), and the Information Technology and Information Security Departments. Since joining the Bank in 1993, Mr. Meder has held positions of increasing responsibility in Supervision and Regulation, eventually directing the supervisory activities for community banking organizations, regional banking organizations, and savings and loan holding companies throughout the Fourth Federal Reserve District. He became the Cleveland Reserve Bank’s general auditor in 2012, providing oversight of the Audit Application Competency Center for the Federal Reserve System, and was the chair of the System’s Conference of General Auditors from 2019 through 2020. In his career with the Federal Reserve, he has also been responsible for several other Cleveland Reserve Bank functions, including Financial Management, Strategy and Performance, Credit Risk Management, and Statistics and Analysis. Mr. Meder holds a BBA with a concentration in accounting from Cleveland State University and an MBA from the Ohio State University.
