Dover Big Local's Community Worker, Linda Aldred is busy meeting local people to help to find out what Dover residents think the Big Local funding should be used for.
Although Linda now lives in Thanet, she has lived most of her life in Dover attending St Mary's Primary and Astor Secondary schools. She is deeply attached to the town, where her family still live and where she has been a District and Town Councillor. Although currently resident in Thanet, over the last 16 years Linda has worked in Dover and throughout east Kent, gaining considerable experience of community development work within education, health service, social housing and with the local authority. When asked why she wanted to work for Dover Big Local, Linda said "I feel this is a great chance to do something I really believe in - to help develop the community of Dover and work with the residents and stakeholders to ensure that they have their say as to how they should best invest their £1 million lottery funding. I love Dover and really want to see the town flourish over the coming years - as it deserves to." Linda is visiting community groups, schools and individual residents and businesses to explain what Big Local funding can offer and see how local people want to develop Dover. She records what local groups are already achieving and what can be done to help make their work more effective or provide extra services or opportunities. ILinda also helps these groups to work together with each other and Dover Big Local to get the very best results for Dover. If you would like Linda to meet with you or a group you are involved with to discuss your ideas, please email her at: outreach@doverbiglocal.org Linda Aldred has prepared a profile from the information she has collected that will help us develop the Big Local Plan.
