In memory of Lee Evans 03 Feb 1972 - 11 Jul 2016, a loving tribute from his family
On the 11July 2016 we found out the sad news that our son, brother, friend and colleague Lee Evans had passed away at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage where he dialysed for many years. Lee had suffered with Kidney failure for the majority of his life, he was diagnosed at the age of 13, where at that point, he attended Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and later the Royal Free. He had three transplants the last being at Guys Hospital along with open Heart surgery for a spilt aorta. Apart from health concerns, Lee loved life and particularly where he worked - Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) where he worked for 28 years, the first couple of years working for GMS before joining Research and Development in 1990. Lee never complained about the health problems he faced, his dedication to work was second to none. He loved being at work and it was a big motivation in his life, it was amazing how he put up with so much and yet always still came to work every day. Lee moved to the Stevenage site in 2001, during which time Lee worked on a diverse range of studies across the facility. Lee's other big passions were visiting Cornwall, greyhound racing which he did for many years, over the years pets such as rats, parrots, tropical fish and along with Nancy pictured with Lee he also had two cats. Lee also loved watching football, in particular Stevenage Boro FC. Lee was always friendly and very personable, making friends easily wherever he went, he was the kind of person that even if you only ever met him once he was hard to forget. The friendships he forged over his 44 years were clear to see at his funeral on the 25th July 2016. Over 150 people attended of which there was a 50 strong contingent from GSK both past and present employees, a fantastic tribute to Lee and how he meant so much to so many people whose lives he had interacted with. Our deepest sympathies go to Lee's parents and his two sisters Lucy and Sally-Anne. Lee Evans 03 Feb 1972 - 11 Jul 2016
