Kikau Alvaro (Director & Choreographer)is returning to Cabrillo Stage after directing and choreographing last summer's production of Anything Goes.
He most recently provided choreography for Big River at TheatreWorks, where he has also choreographed The Trouble With Doug for their 2012 New Works Festival, musically staged Fly By Night, and was the Associate Director/Musical Staging for [title of show]. He has worked with the Children's Musical Theater of San Jose for the last ten years, creating original work for productions of Godspell, Oklahoma!, High School Musical, Babes In Arms, Once on This Island, Drowsy Chaperone, The Secret Garden, Chicago, Avenue Q, and A Chorus Line. Mr. Alvaro made his New York directing debut with a one-act piece called Life Recital, which was featured in a new works festival called "New Life Crisis. Sutton played the role of the deer dancer, Cajeme, a role shared only with Lakin Valdez and Oklahoma's very own director, Kikau Alvaro. He is originally from Southern Orange County and is a recent Theater Arts MA graduate from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
