Here's bass player Sami Helle talking about one of them, written by the band's singer, Kari Aalto, called "Hate the World": "Kari talks about how he hates the cops, how he hates TV, how he hates the media.
How he hates things like that." So far, so universally punk. But Name Day is very different from most bands in one respect: all four members - Aalto, Helle, guitarist and founder Kurikka, and drummer Toni Valitalo - are mentally disabled. Filmmakers Jurka Karkkainen and J-P Passi discovered the band not long after its 2009 launch and quickly set to work documenting Name Day in the studio, onstage, and at home as they experience growing fame and wrestle with personal and interpersonal problems (they are equally prone to group hugs and angry tirades, especially between Helle and Aalto). Our singer, Kari, all the songs are about his life, and some of them are really good. It's a kind of tool, especially for Kari. It's for him to take all the bullshit that he gets in his life. It's therapy for us.

The band's singer Kari Aalto said of the honor: "Us getting our own stamp definitely feels really excellent, fantastic and cool.
In addition to Aalto and Helle, the band includes guitarist and frontman Pertti Kurikka and drummer Toni Valitalo.

Just to be clear, drummer Toni Valitalo has Down's syndrome, singer Kari Aalto has Williams syndrome, bassist Sami Helle has a minimal brain dysfunction syndrome, and Kurikka - whose name provides the band with its name Pertti Kurikan Nimipaivat, or Pertti Kurikka's Name Day in Finnish - has been diagnosed with slight intellectual disabilities.

Lead singer Kari, who pens their angry lyrics, is hoping to move out of his group home and become engaged to girlfriend, Sirkka - but is not entirely sure what married life will entail.

"Aina Mun Pitaa" sits squarely in the band's classic-punk wheelhouse, packing singer/lyricist Kari Aalto's angry frustration at prejudice and the limitations of institutional life into 90 seconds, three chords, and a great hook. (According to Eurovision, it's also the shortest song in the history of the contest.)
