Julie McGlade

Julie McGlade, chief of Network 1, is committed to serving the principals, staff, students, and community members while supporting teaching and learning and fostering community engagement. She believes that students succeed in classrooms that have high academic expectations, are safe spaces for learning, and where administrators and staff work coll... aboratively to help all children achieve their educational goals. Julie is a 25-year veteran of CPS who began her career as a middle school teacher at Richard J. Daley Elementary Academy. She was the assistant principal of Henry Clay and John W. Garvy Elementary School prior to her appointment as principal at Garvy. Prior to becoming chief, she served as deputy chief of the network. Julie has hosted resident principals, served as a mentor to her fellow leaders, and participated in the Chicago Principals Fellowship program.
