Study: Statins May Help Kidney Patients - Heart1.com

Dr. Jules Puschett, an American Heart Association spokesman, said the findings weren't surprising because many doctors already prescribe statins to kidney transplant patients based on evidence of the drugs' benefits in other types of patients vulnerable to heart trouble.
However, "any evidence that we can marshal in favor of what we're doing is always helpful," he said. "The issue of the problems that these patients encounter, even if they have a very well-functioning transplant, has now come to the fore and it's about time that we have paid attention to that," said Puschett, chair of the Department of Medicine at Tulane University, who was not connected with the study.
