Dr Juha-Matti Aalto - Director of Genotyping
Dr Aalto has a Ph.D. in biotechnology from University of Kuopio. Dr Aalto has over 19 years working experience in biotechnology including at least 12 years in SMEs. Prior to joining Jurilab in 2001 he worked six years for Pharming developing transgenic dairy cattle for the production of pharmaceutical proteins in their milk. Dr Aalto's thesis was on the use of transgenic farm animals as bioreactors. His research included developing diagnostic PCR assays for bovine preimplantation embryos and transgenic mice models for protein production in milk. Dr Aalto had a key role in research resulting in world's first transgenic female founder calf in 1993. Dr Aalto has wide expertise from various recombinant DNA and molecular biology methods and techniques as well as from patenting biotechnological innovations.
