Coco. Coco-Lee was the name Jess's parents wanted her to have but in the final moments changed it to Jessica.
Throughout the years the name has just stuck and is the inspiration behind her blog and influences within her company. Obviously Chic was started 4 years ago in November 2009 as a "pop-up" to be opened up for 8 weeks twice a year in her rural hometown of Estevan, Saskatchewan, it was there that brand was created and the company grew into what is known as and it's pop-ups. In 2013, Jess who has had a love of vintage for years which was the inspiration and creation for Obviously Chic both in the brand and styling of her stores started a side venture called, Daisy Mae Collections. A shabby chic furniture line that allows Jess to pick vintage and "old and ugly" pieces and bring them back to life, throughout the last year the line has now moved to include pillows, duvets and curtains. With her signature knobs, styles & techniques the line is quickly changing the way people view statement pieces in their homes. After realizing that there was a void for cute clothes in sizes that fit "real girls" Jess started creating a line of clothing exclusive to Obviously Chic. In 2014, she designed and launched her tutu, t-shirt and headwear line under the Daisy Mae Collections label. Jess admits she is not even 1% the same girl she was when she started Obviously Chic and her passions and loves change as she is inspired constantly by everything beautiful that comes into her life. She spends any free time she has travelling the world to find handpicked items, pondering what she can do next to make YOU look and feel beautiful about yourself and her furniture line in your home. She has a deeply rooted passion for vintage which inspires to to mix the old with the new. She pulsates over bold colors and patterns and unique jewelry and has a very very soft spot for everything handmade. Before this life, she had a six year career in Marketing & PR in tourism mixed with a marketing career in fashion as well as a wonderful part time job that spanned out over 4 years at Lululemon and has dabbled in many many other things to keep her creative mind happy and her soul full! Inspired by girls who read blogs & dream of travel to beautiful cities. She shines & sparkles while simply being one of a kind, a butterfly flutter at the sight of pretty things. She laughs, loves deeply & believes in inspiration to find her way-- that's how it all began. A real person with a sincere passion in making you feel and look great, you can follow her life, passions and thoughts on her blog Blanche McDonald Feature: Jessica Cote- Fall 2011
