"Right now, we just do not know why," is what Chief Jerry Crotchett of the Borden Police Department said on Saturday night.. "Witnesses tell us the truck was very well aware of the train," said Crotchett."One witnesses even said the truck had crossed the tracks and turned around and then waited for the train." Crotchett says the crossing signal was working and the engineer of the train did everything he could to let the truck know to stay out of the way.
