Jeffery R. (Jeff) Spiller was born September 2, 1954. He and his wife, Norma Borland Spiller have a daughter, Melinda, who is twenty-three years old, a son, Adam, who is thirteen years old and a four-year-old grandson, Joseph. Read More Jeffery R. (Jeff) Spiller was born September 2, 1954. He and his wife, Norma Borland Spiller have a daughter, Melinda, who is twenty-three years old, a son, Adam, who is thirteen years old and a four-year-old grandson, Joseph. Jeff's educational background includes a B.A. from Huntingdon College (1976) Montgomery, AL; and Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology, Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia (1979). In 1980, he was ordained an Elder in The United Methodist Church. Jeff has served as Senior Pastor of Christ United Methodist Church for 26 years. In 1979, he and 12 missioner families founded Christ United Methodist Church which has become the fastest growing Methodist church in the Alabama/West Florida Conference under Jeff's leadership. Christ Church has a membership of more than 4,400 members. Christ Church's average worship attendance is about 2,200. In May 1985 the Denman Evangelism Award was presented to Jeff at the annual meeting of The Alabama/West Florida Conference. The Foundation presented this award for Evangelism, The United Methodist Church, Nashville, Tennessee. Jeff has served as delegate to both the General Conference and Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference of The United Methodist Church. He currently serves as Chair of the Clergy Council of the Beeson Institute for Preaching and Leadership, Asbury Seminary, Wilmore, Kentucky and as a Trustee for Huntingdon College as well as being on the faculty of "The Order of the Flame" with World Evangelism, World Methodist Church. He has led national seminars for Pastors Starting New Congregations sponsored by the General Board of Global Ministries and The General Board of Discipleship. He currently leads seminars on church growth, vision, and leadership development. He also conducts consultations with congregations nationwide. Jeff has written three books, Building a Regional Church…From The Ground Up! (Christ United Methodist Church, 1994) and Perceptions: Observations of Everyday Life Vol. I (Durham Inc. 2002) and Perceptions: Observations of Everyday Life Vol. II (Durham Inc. 2004)
