Jane Hickman
Consultant Jane Hickman was a founding partner of Hickman & Rose. Legal 500 described her as "one of the best criminal lawyers in London". She has now retired from the partnership but advises the firm as a consultant/coach. Jane has a strong business orientation, having originally trained as an employment lawyer before succumbing to the excitement of criminal defence work. For 15 years, she was managing partner of Hickman & Rose, gaining an MBA in 2000. She also has personal experience at board level as a former non-executive Commissioner at the Legal Services Commission. She therefore brings to her new role a great deal of insight into the challenges faced by business. In conjunction with the firm, Jane continues to advise clients on their appeals and applications to the Criminal Cases Review Commission. She was a founder member of the Criminal Appeal Lawyers Association which works to develop and improve the procedures available to people who have suffered miscarriages of justice. Her personal blog appears at http://janehickman.com/ and her articles have been published in a wide range of publications. Jane was Special Adviser to Lord Justice Auld on the Criminal Courts Review 1999 - 2000 and sat as a Commissioner on the Legal Services Commission until May 2010. In a voluntary capacity, Jane is currently Chair of the Board of the drugs charity and think tank Transform and is still working pro bono on a number of miscarriages of justice. Chambers Guide 2018 lists her as a leading individual in the "Senior Statesman" category. jhickman@hickmanandrose.co.uk or call 020 7702 5331 Our Lawyers Jane Hickman Jane Hickman Jane Hickman Consultant

Jane Hickman - Chair of Trustees
Jane Hickman is a solicitor and campaigner on justice issues. In 1991 she founded the London criminal justice and human rights firm Hickman & Rose, and chaired its partnership group till retiring in 2016. She served as an advisor to Lord Justice Auld on his Criminal Courts review in 2000 and was a Commissioner on the Legal Services Commission 2007 - 2010. Having observed the wasteful and destructive nature of the war on drugs throughout her career she is a keen supporter of replacing criminal penalties with careful regulation.
