Vista Drive resident Jim Zindroski said he agreed with his wife - the school board member - that the district was asking for too much money.
Zindroski said that when he was North Royalton police chief, the city on at least one occasion tried to pass a police levy at the same time the schools had a levy on the ballot. At that time, Zindroski and others did research and found a school district in Ohio that was "dirt poor" yet successful in educating students. He said that parent involvement is key.

The candidates include incumbent Mayor Cathy J. Luks, Christopher Florio, Ronald M. Mottl and James E. Zindroski. Luks, Mottl and Zindroski were three of five candidates who ran for mayor in the November 1999 election.Zindroski, the city's former police chief, served on council for two years, from 1993-95.He served as North Royalton police chief from 1982 to 1990 and also held the same post in Orrville.He is currently a special deputy for the federal court in Cleveland.
