James Orth

James A. Orth is the Senior Managing Partner of WHI Collective Real Estate LP (“WHICRE”) and Chair of the Investment Committee. Mr. Orth oversees firm and portfolio strategy, investment origination, underwriting, and asset management for the firm. Prior to founding WHICRE, Mr. Orth established WHICRE’s legacy firm as a Founding Managing Principal.... Prior to that, Mr. Orth was a Senior Director at Wrightwood Capital in Chicago, where he was responsible for originating, structuring, and closing equity, preferred equity and mezzanine debt investments in properties throughout the United States, and where he also supervised asset management teams responsible for portfolios of debt and equity investments in real estate. Previously, Mr. Orth was a Senior Investment Manager with Seattle-based Schnitzer Northwest LLC, where he was responsible for the development of office properties in the Seattle area. Prior to joining Schnitzer, Mr. Orth was Director of Real Estate for the Levy Organization in Chicago, where his responsibilities included the development of several mixed-use projects in the Chicago metropolitan area. He began his real estate career as a Project Manager at Development Resources, Inc. in Chicago. Mr. Orth serves on the Board of Advisors of the James A. Graaskamp Center for Real Estate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; serves as a member of the Board of Trustees and Investment Committee of the Ravinia Music Festival; is a member of the Chicago Commonwealth Club; and is a member of the Urban Land Institute.
