Phil Weaver asked if there is grinder pump (s) installed at Holiday World, James Olliver stated yes and all discharge goes to the grinder.
James Olliver, Vice President of Development & Maintenance of Holiday World stated that Holiday World is not asking for "special treatment" and the sewer discharge did not cost the town additional money to process, the issue is with the check valve located at Holiday World. The sewer discharge was continually going back and forth through the check valve causing it to be counted numerous times. The area where the check valve is located is in a locked fenced in area that only the town has access too. On February 1, 2015 the flowmeter read 120,000 gallons and after the town corrected the problem on February 2, 2015 the flowmeter that day read 14,000 gallons. Olliver also passed out a graph of monthly rainfall from January 2013-April 2015 (source AccuWeather) which showed 17 out of the 28 months below normal rainfall. Holiday World is seeking a $ 344,000.00 sewer credit. In the process of gathering information it was discovered that five customer's from across the road sewer flows into Holiday World's flow meter and should have been deducted from Holiday World's bill. The flowmeter was installed in February of 2009. Windell asked Olliver if he had a time line of when he first contacted Luthy with the issues. Olliver stated he had sent emails but Holiday World first did checking on their own to make sure it was not an issue on Holiday World's side. Olliver stated if during construction Holiday World would have an issue; Holiday World would isolate the issue immediately but we should be talking about the degraded gasket and an obstruction that was found in the check valve. Olliver stated look at the graph it doesn't show intermittent problems it is consistent. Olliver also stated that the valve cannot be checked by Holiday World because it is in a locked area and it is town property. Olliver asked does it state in the contract that the Town of Santa Claus is required to maintain the equipment. Olliver stated the valve is the Town of Santa Claus property not Holiday World's.
