OUR PEOPLE - Public Relations Exchange

JAMES AANENSEN
CONSULTANT James joined the Public Relations Exchange in August 2009, and has more than seven years' experience as a true public and corporate affairs allrounder with experience covering media relations, issues management and a range of corporate affairs work such as industrial, government and investor relations. James spent more than five years working within the health industry, both public and not-for-profit. At The Alfred Hospital, then part of the Bayside Health network, James played a role in designing a media engagement strategy to manage the 24 hour external communications requirements of the network. He was also responsible for public and media relations campaigns designed to support major fundraising initiatives - these included the annual Father's Day Appeal, and the Victorian Spring Racing Carnival "Pin and Win" promotion. At the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, James played a key role in the vital communications requirements of the Federal Government-funded Year of the Blood Donor project. During the 2009 Black Saturday bushfire tragedy, James was responsible for implementing a public relations strategy designed to position the Blood Service as an authority in the relief effort, and to keep the public informed as to how their assistance could be of the most benefit. At PRX, James has been responsible for managing the requirements of clients such as Jetstar, Caterpillar and NewSat, and played key roles in other projects involving Kmart, Intralot and Swinburne University. James provides a range of services for these clients including strategic media relations, internal communications, newsletter production, brand awareness and other stakeholder activities. James has completed a bachelor of journalism and communications at La Trobe University, and a further Media Writing certificate from RMIT.
