Before & after pictures

Ida Lipscomb, RN, MA, agrees with the need for more regulation in the esthetic business boom.
A registered nurse for 18 years, Lipscomb owns The Skin Studio in the toney Piedmont neighborhood of Oakland, Calif. The studio offers a menu of traditional spa services such as massages, facials, and bikini waxes, along with laser hair removal, laser facials, acne treatment, chemical peels, and permanent makeup applications. Lipscomb, a former critical-care nurse, found her way into esthetic nursing by first becoming a makeup artist. She soon realized that many of her clients were using heavy makeup to cover up damaged skin. She trained in an esthetician program and started The Skin Studio in 1995.
