Ramadharsingh gave a qualified apology.
He insisted that he was not drunk, did not touch the flight attendant's breast and never threatened her; but he was sorry for everything else. In short, the Minister's apology was like ordering a chicken roti with extra pepper and getting dry paratha instead. Opposition Leader Keith Rowley ordered Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to fire Ramadharsingh at once for abusing the airline employee. In a statement best filed under "TMI", Ramadharsingh tried to play himself up as a champion athlete too as he explained why he was "fatigued" enough to mistreat Laidlow. "What I would like to indicate is that on Saturday after spending an entire day in the constituency in walkabouts, we had a sporting activity," Ramadharsingh told the Trinidad Express, "in fact I participated in that sporting activity and did indeed win the bronze medal in the sack race at Arena." So, Ramadharsingh got bronze in a Tobago village sack race and thinks that was reason enough to berate flight attendants? Government backbenchers Chandresh Sharma and Glenn Ramadharsingh were fired because allegations against them were the subject of police investigations but this is not the case with Sport Minister Anil Roberts.
Ramadharsingh was fired as Minister of the People in March after flight attendant Ronelle Laidlow reported to police that he had touched her breast while reaching for her badge aboard a Caribbean Airlines flight from Tobago and that he had misbehaved. The former minister has apologised for his behaviour, saying it was caused by severe fatigue.

Police are expected to visit the Ministry of the People and Social Development's head office in Port of Spain later this week as the probe into alleged sex acts against fired Government minister Dr Glenn Ramadharsingh gets under way.
The Express learned that Patricia Singh-the Central Trinidad woman who claimed that she was made to perform sex acts on Ramadharsingh when she went to him for assistance to fast-track a Housing Development Corporation (HDC) application-is expected to accompany police to the specific office where the incidents are alleged to have occurred. According to the police report made by Singh last week, the two sex acts allegedly occurred at the ministry's Independence Square and Abercromby Street, Port of Spain, office in 2011 and eight weeks ago. During a five-minute, 15-second recorded conversation obtained by the Express between Singh and Ramadharsingh, the mother of three expressed disgust over the sex acts she said she was made to perform on him. During the telephone conversation, Ramadharsingh did not admit to the alleged sex acts performed on him. The Express learned that a copy of the sworn statutory declaration in which Singh speaks of her disapproval over performing the sex acts on Ramadharsingh at the ministry's office has also been handed over to police. On Sunday, Ramadharsingh "categorically and unequivocally" denied all of Singh's allegations. He was responding to the Sunday Express (April 6) exclusive story which stated that police had started an investigation into Singh's report alleging she was made to perform the sex acts on him. The fired minister has said the report was misleading and without merit and has caused personal hurt, pain and suffering to his family and he will be referring the issue to his attorneys. Ramadharsingh had not previously responded to e-mails, text messages or telephone calls on the allegations when the Sunday Express had tried to contact him from as early as March 25 before publication of its lead story last Sunday. Housing Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal could not be reached for comment on statements made by Ramadharsingh during the recorded conversation.
