Gerardo Higginson arrived in the United States from Peru in 1985 and moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1997 in search of new opportunities and a better quality of life. During his time in America, he has held such diverse jobs as senior assistant to the former Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon (when controversial immigration Senate Bill [SB] 1070 passed), news anchor and reporter for Telemundo, and business banker at Wells Fargo.
