Astorius Capital - Frank Rohwedder Astorius | Capital Frank Rohwedder "It has always worried me to observe how little the sale of closed end fund products is geared with the market and product analysis. I believe that it is fundamental to the success of a fund investment that the relevant market mechanisms are appropriately reflected in the structure. With its private equity expertise, Astorius Capital stands for this approach." (Frank Rohwedder) frank.rohwedder@astoriuscapital.com Frank Rohwedder Frank Rohwedder Frank Rohwedder has been active in closed end funds for two renowned institutions since 1998. In his last position as Director he was responsible for the "Intellectual Property" unit within Deutsche Bank, which he built up and which is unique in the market. Frank has 13 years of experience in the structuring, placing, customer support and liquidation of closed end funds. His focus asset classes were private equity, intellectual property rights (patent rights in particular), and media. Frank structured funds with an aggregate equity volume of c. € 700m. Due to his broad asset and structuring expertise, Frank is sought after as a sounding board and frequently appears as a speaker at industry events. Frank Rohwedder studied economics in Kiel and Paris. After a trainee programme at Vereins- und Westbank (today Unicredit) he became a member of a 15 strong team in 1999, which spun-off and successfully established a new initiator of closed end funds in the German market under the brand name Blue Capital GmbH. It was here where Frank acquired the economic, tax and legal skills of structuring. The team structured and administered funds in asset classes including private equity, wine, securities, and media. In addition to mastering the diverse structuring requirements of these asset classes, the team developed and successfully placed both retail funds and private placements. In 2005 Frank moved to the investment banking division of Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt. Working in the Asset Finance unit he was responsible for the development of new markets and asset classes. He was then entrusted with the formation of a dedicated team for the new asset class "Intellectual Property", which he had developed himself and which would provide financing to research and development projects secured by patents. He held this position until he joined to found Astorius Capital. In addition he was the point person for international structures and the financing of new asset classes across all teams. Alongside his job Frank held lectures in economics at the predecessor of Hamburg School of Business Administration for many years. He also represented Deutsche Bank on the board of trustees of European Business School (ebs), Wiesbaden, and in an advisory board for innovation financing for the office of the chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.
