Eva M. Aagaard, MD
Dr. Aagaard, who is board certified in Internal Medicine, is Professor of Medicine and Senior Associate Dean for Education at Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis. She practices general internal medicine in both the inpatient and outpatient setting at the Barnes Jewish Hospital. In her roles, she provides coordination and oversight of issues that span undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education. Nationally, she led the development of the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) TEACH Program, serves on the SGIM Council and is a newly appointed Deputy Editor for the Journal of General Internal Medicine. Internationally, she was the developer and faculty lead of the Health Education Advanced Leadership Program in Zimbabwe. Dr. Aagaard formerly served as the Associate Dean for Educational Strategy, Founder and Director of the Academy of Medical Educators, Director of the Center for Advancing Professional Excellence, Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Medicine and the Clerkship Director for the Hospitalized Adult Care Block at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She formerly developed integrated curriculum for medical students at both University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and University of Colorado and was the Assistant Program Director for the UCSF Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency Program. Currently, Dr. Aagaard is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine's Internal Medicine Board and Board Appeals Panel and the National Board of Medical Examiners Ambulatory Care Test Development Committees. She served as a core member of the Milestones in Internal Medicine Committee. She has won more than 15 awards for clinical excellence, teaching and humanism in medicine, including the University of Colorado's President's Teaching Award, the Society of General Internal Medicine Mid-Career Mentoring Award, and the Elizabeth Gee Award for the Advancement of Women at the University of Colorado. She is a graduate of the UCSF-San Francisco General Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency Program, the UCSF General Internal Medicine and the Teaching Scholars Program. She received her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College.
