EUGENIO JOSE V. LACSON

Vice governor: PDP-Laban 'dominant party' in Negros Occidental

NEGROS Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he is still hopeful that more leaders in the province would join the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC), following the mass oath-taking of about 12,000 Negrenses to the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) last week.
Lacson, who is acting governor until Friday, October 13, as Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. is out of the country, said he recognizes that majority of the Negrense officials and leaders are now with the administration party. "It is a fact that PDP is now a dominant party in Negros Occidental," said Lacson, who said he will remain with the NPC since it has also declared support to the Duterte administration. He said the NPC will "maintain a status quo" as there are still a few mayors and village leaders who belong to the party. Before the mass oath-taking of PDP-Laban in the province, Lacson said they will "wait and see" who will still be interested to join the NPC. Lacson said his local party Love Negros, and Marañon's United Negros Alliance have yet to talk on a possible reconciliation.

NPC to recruit more members | SunStar

NEGROS Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Monday, September 25, the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) is also recruiting more members soon.
Lacson said they are very much aware of the mass-oath taking of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas Ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) in the province on October 5. He added that they will look for available politicians who will be willing to transfer to the NPC. Benitez and Lacson both belong to Love Negros, a political group in the province. Lacson denied reports that he is the new provincial chairman of the NPC. He said that Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco and Sixth District Representative Mercedes Alvarez were named to the party's Advisory Council. Lacson had earlier said he sees no reason to transfer to another party since the NPC and PDP-Laban is in a "working coalition. (TDE)
