Director of Marketing (Esther Yuen)
Esther Yuen is a fourth year undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia, studying in Faculty of Arts, with a major in Sociology. She is new to the KBNC team and is excited at the role she will be playing as the Marketing Director. Though she is fairly new to the field of international health, she has dedicated much of her time in promoting global citizenship. One of her proudest moments was when she initiated and co-coordinated a unique UBC student-directed seminar called "Think Globally, Act Locally: Citizenship in Vancouver. Through this one course, ten students were sent out to volunteer in locally-based organizations, and since graduation, most, if not all, have also explored international humanitarian work. While as an undergraduate student, she was actively involved with her university, creating promotional materials for the student elections, conferences, workshops, research projects, and educational information fairs. She currently volunteers regularly with the Collingwood Neighbourhood House Food security Institute, and spends her free time reading National Geographic News, drawing, or playing piano. She aspires to be a communications manager in a social services field, and hopes to inspire those around her to become aware and active global citizens. Passionate about social issues, Esther is willing to work endless hours to ensure that everyone has equal access to opportunities in life. With her role as the Marketing Director at KBNC, she will use her knowledge of marketing and her skills in graphic design to produce high-quality marketing materials. She will work diligently and creatively to bring public awareness to the pressing neurological issues in West Africa. Her life has been greatly enriched by those whose lives have been saved, so she understands the importance of saving lives in Western Africa.
