Elizabeth Heald Board Chair
Elizabeth is a graduate of the Bachelor of Arts program at the University of Guelph, the Personal Financial Planner Diploma program, and the Richard Ivey School of Business Leadership Program. Following a successful career in financial services for almost 30 years, Elizabeth took over the position of President & Chief Executive Officer at The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation in August 2017. Elizabeth has volunteered for a number of organizations including the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery Board of Directors, Operations Chairperson for Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion, and in various roles for Heart & Stroke Foundation, United Way and KidsAbility. In 2008, Elizabeth's 6-year old son, Dylan, passed away suddenly of heart complications due to undiagnosed Kawasaki Disease. After sharing her story for a number of years with everyone and anyone who would listen in order to spread awareness of the disease, she felt compelled to do more. In February 2014, Kawasaki Disease Canada was born and Elizabeth is co-founder and Chair of the Board of Directors.

A seasoned senior executive in both the corporate world and the not-for-profit sector, Elizabeth has spent the last 25+ years in diverse leadership roles with Scotiabank. Elizabeth's most recent position with the Bank was as Director & Head of Scotia Private Client Group where she stewarded high net worth client fund holders in the Kitchener and Waterloo region, managing a multi-million dollar growth plan. In May 2014, Elizabethco-founded and launched a national charity, Kawasaki Disease Canada, leading the organization, serving on the Board, and fulfilling the role of passionate spokesperson. The Foundation Board is very pleased with the Foundation's achievements in 2016, a year of change and renewal. Elizabeth's background and expertise aligns with the Board's vision for a new innovative focus for The KWCF. Our national search for a new CEO yielded a number of very impressive candidates, and Elizabeth emerged as an extraordinary match for The KWCF. She brings the ideal combination of visionary leader and collaborative partnership builder that will help take The KWCF to the next level. Elizabeth lives in Kitchener with her husband and daughter. In addition to her work at Scotiabank and Kawasaki Disease Canada, Elizabeth has volunteered and raised funds for several local not-for-profit organizations, including Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, United Way KW and KidsAbility. Elizabeth has a strong affiliation with this community and is excited to leverage the innovation and entrepreneurship that exists in Waterloo Region to lead The KWCF to new heights.
