Edward J. Gorman, III
Chief of Community Development, NCRC Managing Director, NCRC Housing Rehab Fund Edward J. Gorman, III, is the Chief Community Development Officer at the National Community Reinvestment Coalition. Mr. Gorman joined the staff of NCRC in March 2010 in the role of Chief Membership & Workforce Officer, following ten years of service on its Board of Directors. Mr. Gorman transitioned from Chief Membership & Workforce Officer to Chief Community Development Officer in November 2013. In his staff role, Mr. Gorman directs NCRC's Community Development Financial Institution (the NCRC Community Development Fund, Inc.), the workforce development program, and the GROWTH (Generating Real Opportunities for Work Through Housing) Initiative. In his previous role of Chief Membership and Workforce Officer, Mr. Gorman oversaw NCRC's relationships with its members, managed the research, older adult advocacy and CDFI programs, managed the membership organizing and advocacy campaigns, and directed its workforce development and GROWTH initiatives. Mr. Gorman founded and served as the President of American Community Partnerships (ACP) from its inception in 1995 until joining NCRC. ACP developed partnerships that assisted low-income individuals in obtaining the skills and assistance necessary for careers that paid living wages and benefits while improving the communities in which they lived. Through ACP, Mr. Gorman worked in over 40 cities and states across the US, in partnership with government, labor unions, community- and faith-based organizations and others, to train over 10,000 workers and help develop distressed communities. Before founding ACP, Mr. Gorman created the labor-management, Carpenter's Health and Safety Fund of North America and served as its Executive Director until 1996. Mr. Gorman practiced labor law for 10 years and was Associate General Counsel to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Edward received his J.D. from The Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America and graduated from Boston College.
