David Bayer
Landscape Designer David is an urban and landscape designer with a background in geography and special expertise in digital graphics. His work currently focuses on the design of both urban and rural public spaces, including a regional park in Lorton, Virginia and a multi-purpose plaza at the National Zoo. In addition, he has worked on developing graphic materials that provide comprehensive analyses of site conditions, convey key design concepts, and illustrate the positive impact of proposed design interventions. David's background in geography heavily influenced his work while at Virginia Tech. As a graduate research assistant, he worked on a Cultural Landscape Inventory for the National Parks Service documenting the Mount Vernon Memorial Highway. His master's thesis, titled "Choreographing Sediment", explored the relationship between the Panama Canal expansion, east coast super-port dredging, and costal land development. His ability to leverage a number of different digital design tools has allowed this method of understanding landscapes at varied scales, and through multiple lenses, to continue through his professional work.
