Cynthia Johnston: Clinical Director Cynthia Johnston joined Sheena's Place as Clinical Director on January 4, 2011. Cynthia is a psychotherapist who has specialized in the field of eating disorders for over twenty years. She has also had extensive experience in working with substance abuse and issues pertaining to sexuality. Prior to coming east in 2010 for a temporary position as counsellor at Ryerson University, Cynthia was based in Vancouver and worked with the Fraser South Eating Disorder Program, Dr. Peter Centre for People with AIDS and in private practice. Cynthia has been involved in the field of eating disorders in a variety of capacities. She was the founding director of the Eating Disorder Resource Centre of British Columbia, a provincial information, referral and educational service for the public and professionals. She also helped to launch and facilitate support groups for ANAD (Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders) and ran eating disorders therapy groups for St. Paul's Hospital Eating Disorder Clinic and the University of British Columbia. Cynthia enjoys outdoor activities and has a diversity of interests, including photography and a passion for travelling that has taken her around the globe on several occasions. In 2001, based in Nepal, Cynthia researched the trafficking and sexual exploitation of females in South East Asia. She has also been an active volunteer for several non-profit organizations, most recently as a volunteer selector for the international NGO, CUSO-VSO.
