Clarence Sallee Jr.CHATTANOOGA -- Funeral services for Rev. Clarence D. Sallee Jr., 86, of Chattanooga, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, from the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN 37415, (423)877-3524.Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today, Friday, and from noon until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.Rev. Sallee died on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, in a hospital in Chattanooga.He was a native of Pine Bluff, Ark., and graduated from Quachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia, Ark.He was also a graduate of Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Ky., and received a master's degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.Rev. Sallee served churches in Arkansas, Nashville, Cookeville and Chattanooga.The last 22 years of his working life, he served as chaplin of Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute, while also serving several local churches.He enjoyed serving small churches and providing pastoral leadership to them.Rev. Sallee was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors.He was a retired member of the Holston Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.He attended Hixson United Methodist Church.His family includes his wife of 28 years, Alice L. Sallee; two sons, Clarence D. (Jack) Sallee III of Cookeville and G. Steven Sallee of Knoxville; two stepsons, Jerry Lee Gross of Chattanooga and Steven Dale Gross of Hixson; seven grandchildren, Shelley Sallee of Austin, Texas, Sam Sallee of Cookeville, Patrick Sallee of Charlotte, N.C., Jerry Lee Gross Jr., Carrie Lee Weaver and Amy Lee Bee, all of Chattanooga, and Alexandra Lynn Gross of Hixson; two great-grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
