Dr. Christine Leahy took the reins as the consolidated school's chief July 1, replacing former superintendent Iner Anderson, who retired.Leahy, in her 19th year in the education field, formerly served as principal of Somonauk Middle School and spent 13 years as a chemistry teacher, mostly at Morris Community High School.Because of all the changes last year, school officials intentionally sought to keep things mostly status quo for the 2004-05 school year, Leahy said.Still, the school is upgrading some of its computers and software programs this year and will add a new laptop computer in each classroom, she said.The school also is working on posting items of interest onto a Web site, she said.This web site and server is updated and maintained by The Times Press, Streator IL

The Allen-Otter Creek CCSD 65 has hired Dr. Christine Leahy as superintendent.Leahy, a former chemistry teacher who now serves as principal of Somonauk Middle School, will begin her duties July 1.Leahy moved from Minnesota to Illinois, where she completed her bachelor of science degree in chemistry.She spent 13 years as a chemistry teacher, most of them at Morris Community High School.During that time she also served as a science club sponsor, cheerleading coach and flag corps coach.Her other educational credentials include a master of education degree in curriculum and instruction from National-Louis University and a Ph.D. in educational administration from Illinois State University.Leahy lives with her husband Mark and two teenage daughters, Beth and Nicki, in Sandwich.She is also active as a Sunday School teacher and choir member at her local church.This web site and server is updated and maintained by The Times Press, Streator IL
