Mr. Epner is the Executive Vice President of the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine (SIDM), a nonprofit organization that seeks to improve patient safety by ensuring that diagnoses are made in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner. He is also the co-founder and a Director for SIDM as well as the Chair of the Coalition to Improve Diagnosis... , a multi-organization collaboration. Mr. Epner  serves as Immediate Past President of the Clinical Laboratory Management Association, where he also leads the Increasing Clinical Effectiveness  initiative. He is a member of the CDC’s “Clinical Laboratory Integration into Healthcare Collaborative™” known as CLIHC, a consultant for the past 7 years to their Laboratory Medicine Best Practices program (an evidence-based practice initiative), and Chair of the Coordinating Council on the Clinical Laboratory Workforce’s Taskforce on Measuring Testing-Related Value.
