Following the latest news, Celeste Tittle, chairwoman of the Community Advisory Group - made up of residents who work to increase awareness and information about developments in the Wyle cleanup - said she wonders how contamination in the science building will be removed if Wyle is relieved of the responsibility. "My concern is for the health of the children in those rooms, and if they're going to continue with the (ventilation) system," said Tittle.

"We have astronomical numbers of people with thyroid issues and something is causing it," CAG Chairwoman Celeste Tittle said."DTSC is just looking at TCE and saying TCE doesn't cause thyroid cancer."Tittle said radiation, perchlorate and NDMA (nitrosodimethylamine) are contaminants known to cause thyroid diseases, and she believes all three exist at the Wyle site.In addition to asking the state to expand its investigation, Tittle said the group needs more involvement from Norco."The city's job is to protect the public. There are people calling the city and they're told there is nothing wrong with Wyle. That is not helpful. The Web site is not accessible and not updated," Tittle said."And Jim Daniels (Norco community development director) is a CAG member and he hasn't come in over a year."Daniels could not be reached for comment last week.Tittle referred to a 2004 Riverside County Grand Jury report, which urged the city of Norco to be more proactive in informing the public about Wyle contamination. The Corona-Norco Unified School District was also reprimanded by Tittle, who said Assistant Superintendent Ted Rozzi and Norco High School Principal John Johnson have not attended CAG meetings for some time.

Celeste Tittle, chairwoman of the Community Advisory Group, which keeps tabs on the Wyle cleanup, said she would support converting the area into open space."I think turning the Wyle property into open space would not only protect the potential new homeowners there, but it would be a place for people to ride horses and hike," Tittle said.

The TCE Blog - Norco blasted for Wyle efforts (CA)

"It's the city's job to protect the public," group Chairwoman Celeste Tittle said.
Representatives from the school district and the city have not attended an advisory group meeting for more than a year, she said. City and school officials could not be reached for comment Thursday night. People who contact the city for information about Wyle are told that it's not a problem or that they can't review regulatory reports, Tittle said. "I don't believe the school (district) has been active in getting out the information as they would like us to believe," Tittle said. Read the full story here.
