Education Officer (English) Phone: (03) 5622 6665 Cathy worked as a primary teacher in Catholic Education, South Australia, across grades 3-7 for 12 years. After gaining her Literacy Teachers Certification, her work took a focus on literacy across the content areas for middle primary students. Cathy’s interest in curriculum development and the demands of English Language Learners (Vietnamese) within Catholic Schools of South Australia lead to post graduate study in Studies of Asia across content areas of Social Studies and English. Cathy was a participant of an in-country tour and writer of curriculum units of study, on Vietnam for Catholic Primary Schools of South Australia. From 2002 to 2014, Cathy was a literacy consultant, where she worked across a diverse and wide range of public schools, in New York City, as well as many regional and rural school districts of New York State, New Jersey and Connecticut, implementing literacy best practices. Cathy was a lead presenter for the Summer Conference of Virginia State Schools - Improvement initiative in 2010. Since returning to Australia Cathy has worked with a focus on the implementation of literacy practices to meet the AusVELS and Australian Curriculum Standards.
