City Manager's Office - Meet the Director of Communications and Council Support Bud Cranor Bud Cranor Public Information Manager Bud Cranor was named Manager of the Communications and Council Support Office in June 2009. He oversees the administrative and constituent affairs for the city of Henderson Mayor and Council. Additionally, he directs the city's public information efforts, which includes public affairs, government relations, issue and crisis communication management, public information/education programs, media liaison activities, and employee communications. He also serves as the city's Public Information Officer. Previously, Bud served as the Special Assistant to the Mayor and Council from 2005 to 2009, Bud executed priorities and initiatives of the Henderson City Council through collaboration with national, regional, state and local elected officials and government entities. He came to the city of Henderson in 2003 as a Senior Public Information Specialist in the City Manager's Office, responsible for crisis communications, community outreach programs, and special events including the city's 50 th anniversary celebrations and annual State of the City event. Bud previously served as Director of Constituent Services and then Director of the state of Nevada Governor's Office from 1999 to 2003. Before entering public service, Bud held communications positions in the private and non-profit sectors after graduating with a bachelor's degree in communications from Brigham Young University (BYU) in 1995. Active in civic affairs, Bud currently serves on the Bond Oversight and Emergency Response Plan Review Committees for the Clark County School District (CCSD). He also serves on the APPLE Partnership Executive Committee. In 2008, Bud received the Golden Apple Award from CCSD for his support of literacy efforts. The Henderson Community Foundation named him their 2005 Outstanding Citizen. In 2004, he received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from BYU-Idaho. He has also been recognized for his communications skills by the Public Relations Society of America and International Association of Business Communicators.
