Dr. Bryce Peckham has been named chief racing veterinarian for the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission.
Peckham has served as interim chief vet since October 2008. On Feb. 10, the KHRC announced he will remain in the position. Previously, Peckham spent 12 years as the chief racing veterinarian for the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission. "Dr. Peckham has already proven to be a valuable asset to the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission and the industry during his short time in Kentucky," KHRC executive director Lisa Underwood said. Peckham is an active member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the AAEP's practice group of racing regulatory veterinarians. Prior to being named Kansas' chief racing vet, he served for seven years as senior track veterinarian at The Woodlands in Kansas City. He was awarded a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Kansas State University in 1988.
