Bryan Hansen, BSN, RN Johns Hopkins University Bryan Hansen chose nursing as a second career and graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa in May, 2009. He is a MSN/PhD student pursuing the Clinical Nurse Specialist with a Forensic Nursing focus track at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. His areas of research and practice interests include elder abuse and neglect, vulnerable adult protection, death review and investigations, and the reduction of the use of restraints and seclusion in psychiatric care. He is also a psychiatric nurse on a high-acuity inpatient unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He is primarily associated with the Schizophrenia and Bipolar Affective Disorder Service but also works on the Motivated Behaviors Unit and the Neuropsychiatry Service. He is actively involved in aggressive patient management, which is the cornerstone of a remarkably successful program to reduce the use of seclusion and restraint in psychiatric care at Johns Hopkins.
