Mesko named Assistant Public Safety DirectorMexico Public Safety officer Brice Mesko has been named Assistant Public Safety Director, City Manager Tanna Parish announced Wednesday."I'm really excited.This gives me a good opportunity to help out our department and our city," said Mesko.Mesko had previously served as night shift supervisor for PSD.He joined the department in March of 1996 and was promoted to Corporal in September of 2000.Mesko was promoted to Sergeant in 2001, serving in that position until Wednesday's promotion."We're really looking forward to working with Brice, and we think he'll help us continue to provide the service we've been providing to the community," said Mexico Public Safety Director Mike Jerichow.Mesko was one of five officers who applied for the position.Candidates went through a weeklong interview process which included a written and oral exercise.Jerichow said it was a close competition, but was one in which Mesko scored the highest."We're quite pleased with Brice, and we think he'll have a positive impact on the community," Jerichow said.It's a big week for Mesko, whose wife Nichole is expecting a second child this week.Mesko, 33, is a Rolla native who received a business degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.He worked in several jobs before undergoing police training in 1996.
