Nexterna was created in 1987, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Union Pacific Corporation (NYSE: UNP). Our initial mission was to design and build integrated technology solutions to enable the company to better operate its historic and complex railroad operations. Nexterna created a groundbreaking web-based, service management application with real-time location tracking and a wireless field application. In 2005, Nexterna took control of their own business which is now a privately held company.
