Calvary Bible Fellowship Church- Sloan

Ann Staib Sloan born August 6, 1949, also attended Haverford High.
She was raised in a Catholic family and was a Haverford cheerleader (no surprise there). In 1971 Bob graduated from Drexel University with a degree in metallurgical engineering while Ann graduated from the University of Delaware, with a degree in health, physical education and recreation. Bob went to work for Alan Wood Steel Corporation while Ann did substitute teaching, worked in the YWCA and did physical education in various health clubs. Ann, who was raised in a Catholic environment, had lots of "head-knowledge" and felt close to God but never understood what it means to commit your life to the Lord. In 1974, Bob and Ann attended a Josh McDowell program at of all places, Villanova University. Ann was pregnant with their first child, Meredith at the time and both were greatly moved by Josh's message and answered the invitation at the end of the service. For Bob it was a reaffirmation of his faith and desire to follow the Lord, but for Ann, it was her commitment her life to Christ. Ann and their close friends kept urging him to follow his calling, to which Bob would respond, "If I ever get laid off, I'll go to seminary". Bob and Ann have two children, Meredith born April, 1974, (in 1975 Ann experienced a miscarriage) and Rob born July,1976. In 2001, Ann was detected early with breast cancer and underwent a modified radical mastectomy. Ann has been very active in physical education in Berks County while raising her children and her greatest passion is women's Bible studies. Ann enjoys physical fitness, gardening, racquetball, and especially the ocean. Bob and Ann would love to get to know each and every member of our church on a personal basis and welcome your efforts in getting to know them better.

Highlights of Bob's pastoral career so far have been baptizing thirty new believers in one day, the move from our previous facility and the first service here in June of 1999. Bob also was moved by a mission trip he took several years ago to Tanzania which has led him to develop a passion for supporting missionaries and his desire to see all the members of our church participate in one or more short term mission trips locally or abroad as part of their Christian development. One of the challenges that Pastors face is that they are human and have the same 168 hours each week we all have. Bob and Ann would love to get to know each and every member of our church on a personal basis and welcome your efforts in getting to know them better.
