Andy is the Chief Financial Officer
Andy, who was born the UK, started his career as an engineer, working for Dowty Group in a variety of industry segments whilst studying Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Bath.
On graduation, Andy served as a commissioned officer in the RAF spending time on SAR and AWACs squadrons. On leaving the RAF Andy spent three years with Deloitte’s where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the ICAEW.
In 1996, Andy moved into investment banking and spent six years in London, covering risk management and business finance support leadership roles related to trading of derivatives and commodities. The later focus on commodities led to a move into mining in 2002.
During the following fourteen years, Andy spent time in a variety of senior finance roles in Europe and the Far East. These ranged from Treasury and Corporate Finance in the world’s largest mining company to global CFO for a commodity trader covering multiple product lines and complex joint venture activity. On returning to Australia, Andy took on the commercial lead role for the largest iron ore miner in SA.
For the last decade, Andy’s roles have included finance leadership on the executive leadership teams driving strategic direction and performance for the business units. Delivering on the challenge of leading & developing finance teams across diverse cultures and multiple jurisdictions, whilst providing commercial strategic leadership in businesses that were involved in significant business cycle driven change, have been key elements of this work.
Andy joined BAE Systems Australia in May 2016.
