Dr. Amanda Z. Chen
Dr. Amanda Chen was born in southern China but since her early teen years grew up in the metropolitan area of New York City. She attended Cornell University where she obtained her bachelor degree in Biology. She worked in a basic science research laboratory for three years before cementing her career choice of helping and serving people in the field of dentistry. She attended Columbia University, School of Dental and Oral Surgery. She completed her Doctoral degree in Dentistry. She also extended her general dentistry training in a hospital environment with a year of General Practice Residency. Her interest in Orthodontics developed from working with children during her residency. Her training at Columbia University School of Dentistry exposed her to various orthodontic treatment experiences, which allowed Dr.Chen to gain a greater appreciation of the joy and challenge of patient care in Orthodontics. At the juncture of choosing her practice location, the allure of the California weather and the warmth of local residents led Dr. Chen to move from New York City to the Bay Area in 2002. She has many years of private practice experience treating a variety of patient cases. Aside from practicing orthodontics, Dr. Chen volunteered to perform dental screening for the San Francisco public schools and local community centers. In the Spring of 2009, Dr. Chen joined the part-time teaching faculty at the University of Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry with a purpose of contributing to and teaching of Orthodontics to dental students.
