Al Travis
Albert L. Travis, Congregational Project Consultant Dr. Albert L. Travis joins Stoker Resources Group as a a congregational project consultant in the areas of organ and worship consulting. He has taught at Fort Worth's Southwestern Seminary since 1977 and has also served as organist at Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth since 1978. At Broadway Baptist Church, Dr. Travis plays the Rildia Bee O'Bryan Cliburn Organ, Casavant's largest installation. Dr. Travis has served as Regional Councillor for Region VII for the American Guild of Organists from 1992 to 1996. He maintains an active schedule as hymn festival leader, improvisation workshop clinician, arranger, and composer. Dr. Travis has degrees from Oklahoma Baptist University, Syracuse University, and the University of Michigan. In addition to teaching as his main focus, Dr. Travis has spent four sabbatical years studying improvisation, composing, arranging, and publishing. His recent publications with Morning Star Music Publishers include a volume of postludes, a set of variations on the tune Nettleton, and a forthcoming volume of 18 hymn introductions. He has recently published choral works with Augsburg, Morning Star Music Publishers, and Alfred. Dr. Travis can be heard on a recent recording playing Jongen's Symphonie concertante and Saint-Saëns's Organ Symphony with the Fort Worth Symphony. He also appears on two recordings of hymns festivals recorded at Broadway Baptist Church, which are available through that church's music ministry.

Al Travis: Amazing Grace
The last of these three preludes is the lovely, gentle and meditative setting of Amazing Grace by Al Travis, organist of Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Albert L. Travis is well established for his work in church music, having begun at age 12 to play for services at his home church, First Baptist in Batesville, Mississippi. Distinguished Professor of Organ (Emeritus 2008) at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas, since 1977 and organist at Broadway Baptist Church in Ft. Worth since 1978, he has numerous choral and organ works to his name as well as a long career in organ pedagogy and performance in both church and concert hall.
