Who is Williamson County Historical Society
The Williamson County Historical Society was founded on May 3rd 1966 by a dedicated group of citizens from every community in Williamson County. Ma ry Sneed Jones, the first Publication Chairman sums up the activities of those early years, They are planning historical tours, collecting manuscripts, dairies, wills, deeds, recording cemetery records, writing histories of old homes, collecting old pictures and family histories, preparing articles for the local newspaper, publishing the 1850 Census of Williamson County, and restoring old homes. In 2016 we commemorated our 50th Anniversary as an historical society. The population growth and economic development of Williamson County has brought about tremendous change. Without the efforts of those who came before, much of what has been preserved, both in oral histories and material culture would be lost. Our members continue the tasks as sated above reminding others about the rich history of Williamson County and their place in it.Read more
